Disney and Toms the Perfect Pair

Today I got new shoes in the mail. What girl doesn’t love new shoes?  What is even better is these shoes are Toms, the shoes that give back. And these Toms have been paired with Disney greatness. This is the It’s a Small World edition.

The tag on them says,“The whimsical imagery of celebrated artist Mary Blair enlivens Disney’s most beloved theme park attraction, It’s a Small World. Inspired by her style, we honor the timeless message of peace, harmony and beauty with a collection of special products for your very own small world.” The Facade ones which I got, look very much like the front of the It’s a Small World ride. And the colors are fantastic. My son’s, the Flags print, are prefect for boys. He calls them his knight shoes.

These are my new Toms in the Facade print, from the It's a Small World line.

Toms have an amazing purpose. I love their “One for One” campaign. “With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for one.”  That is from the tag that came in the box with my new shoes. It think this is a great cause, and makes the seemingly steep price tag worth while. In all actuality you are purchasing two pairs of shoes. You just get to take one pair home while the other will go to a child in need. I strongly recommend these to anyone that is a Toms fan and/or a Disney fan.

These are my son's Toms in Flags print from the It's a Small World print.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. Unlike the regular classics that Toms, these have a sturdier more solid sole. Which will be good for walking around on them for a long time. My other classics broke down so fast where the sole met the shoe. I am excited about the new designs. Though they are only sold in children’s size. Children’s sizes go to size six which is also the same as an eight in women’s sizes. I was able to get a five and they fit my feet great. They are really true to size.

Love, Mickey and Pez

I am not a Pez Candy Dispenser collector. I have one that is a football with University of Washington logo on it. But in the Valentines Clearance I found this cute little set. It is a Mickey and Minnie in a heart box. I got it for a great deal of $1.78. Which is nearly cheaper than a single package Pez dispenser. I am putting it on my bookshelf. I am in Love.

Animators Collection Dolls

I have started a collection. I usually just have random things. Things that catch my attention, but not necessarily a organized collection of items, until now. I was at the Disney Store a month back and there were theses dolls there, they were the Animators Collection Series. And I fell in love. I bought Snow White, since she is my favorite princess. I thought I would be okay with just having her. But the last time I was there, they were on sale, and I thought just one more. So I bought Pocahontas. I have to say, now I want them all. I look very forward to getting them all. I am keeping them pristine in the box, which I have to say is quite hard. I want to take them out and play with their hair, but alas I will refrain. But are they not the cutest things you have ever seen??

Stitch ate my iPhone

20120406-213535.jpg

I got the most awesome iPhone case ever. It is a little Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. I found this cutie on Amazon.com. The back of the phone looks like the picture above. The best part is his ears tuck away and pop out when you when you push his hair down. The only downside is that it makes the iPhone quite big (as you can see from the pictures). Aside from that I love this case! Oh, and he can stand up too.

Mickey Date Book

I have never been really great at organizing my schedule. With school, the boys all having different events, organizations and appointments, I was constantly forgetting things. I thought with an iPhone it would get easier. But it didn’t. I would write them down on a notebook, then forget to add them to my phone. And thereby forget my appointment. What I really needed was a place to compile all the “notes”. For Christmas I bought myself a date book. I bought it because it was a Mickey Mouse and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice book. At first I didn’t want to write in it, it was just so precious. There is alternating pages of the story and pictures on the left hand side, and all the dates and such on the right. It took me all of January to warm up to the idea of writing all over this book and not just in the designated area. But now, I don’t go anywhere without my planner. School has gotten more organized, and I am not missing any assignments or appointments. I know when the boys have field trips so they don’t forget to pack them a lunch. I think date books are the best think since Walt Disney. Where have they been all my life?

30 Days and Counting

I leave in 30 days to celebrate my birthday at Disneyland! I am like a kid, counting how many sleeps till I leave. I am already planning on what outfits I am going to be packing. And as you already know, my suitcase is out and ready. I have already packed my backpack for autographs. And I am planning on what other odds and ends I will be packing. As well as packing up my son.

Till then I have school. I started my spring term last week. That is why I was absent. I have quite a full load. I am hoping that I can get decent marks this quarter. My favorite class is my dance class, naturally. I am taking my first ever modern class. It is interesting. And  I find it hard to break my mind from doing ballet movements. It is definitely not as rigid but just as hard. I love learning new things. My other classes are Introduction to GIS, and Introduction History of American Indians. I love them both. They are some of my favorite topics. This quarter should be stellar.

My running training is in full swing. I am actually trying something a little different this time. I am using an app on my iphone. I am going to write more about it in a few weeks once I have tried it. Let you know what I think of it. There is a soundtrack you can download on itunes as well. So it should be interesting. We will see. And I will for sure let you know.

This week I plan on filling you in on a bunch of new developments. So stay tuned.

Spring into Training

Now that it is officially Spring. I figure I should get in gear and start training. My last two races I barely, if at all, trained. I decided the Disneyland Half Marathon this September was going to be different. I set a training program up. I am going to work up towards the 13.1 miles in smaller manageable steps. In May I am going to run a 5k, in July I am going to run a 10K and in September, I am going to run the half marathon.

I just got new shoes. The shoes I ran the Tinkerbell in were to big. They were not my size and they were quite heavy. So I got new ones. They are New Balance Minimus Road shoes. I love them. They are light, yet give me the support I need. My shins don’t kill me from having to pick them up time and time again too. I added some bling I got from BeecauseCharms.com at the Tinkerbell Expo. I got the crown for the princess in me, and the 13.1 as my inspiration.

I also found at the Tinkerbell Half Marathon that I loved compression socks. It was the first time I had run in them, and my feet loved me. Unlike my first half, which I took me 45 minutes to walk back to my hotel from the finish line. I actually was able to go walk around the park and get pictures with Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell when I finished the Tinkerbell Half Marathon. I think it was the socks. Today I got new compression socks. And they ROCK! They are black and white diamond pattern. I am thinking of putting together a Marie costume to run in, not quite sure yet. There is plenty of time to come up with something amazing. For now, I get to just rock the socks.

Snow White Tea Set

This is another of my recent ceramic projects, I finished last week. I painted a Snow White inspired tea set. She is after all my favorite princess and childhood memory. I had a lot of fun coming up with how I was going to paint this set. I knew I wanted it to resemble her, but subtly.

To start with I painted the saucer in two shades of yellow. A darker yellow inside, and a “ruffle” of a lighter shade of yellow around the rim. The cup is dark blue on the outside. On the inside I painted light blue with a dark pink rim, and reddish rain drop shapes reminiscent of the sleeves on her dress. I even put a tiny little red bow on the handle of the cup, like the one she wears in her hair. I also painted a little “tea baggie” holder as a bright red apple. I am very pleased with how it all turned out. It is my perfect princess tea set.
